SUPG-stabilized virtual elements for diffusion-convection problems: a robustness analysis

چکیده
The objective of this contribution is to develop a convergence analysis for SUPG-stabilized Virtual Element Methods in diffusion-convection problems that robust also the convection dominated regime. For original method introduced [Benedetto et al. , CMAME 2016] we are able show an “almost uniform” error bound (in sense unique term depends unfavourable way on parameters damped by higher order mesh-size multiplicative factor). We introduce novel discretization allows us estimates fully cases. finally present some numerical result.

Convection-diffusion problems, SDFEM/SUPG and a priori meshes
This paper aims to give the reader a summary of current understanding of the streamlinediffusion finite element method (SDFEM), as applied to linear steady-state convection-diffusion problems. Towards this end, we begin with a brief description of the nature of convectiondiffusion problems: the structure of their solutions will be examined, with special emphasis on the main phenomena of exponen...
متن کاملEquidistribution grids for two-parameter convection–diffusion boundary-value problems
In this article, we propose an adaptive grid based on mesh equidistribution principle for two-parameter convection-diffusion boundary value problems with continuous and discontinuous data. A numerical algorithm based on an upwind finite difference operator and an appropriate adaptive grid is constructed. Truncation errors are derived for both continuous and discontinuous problems. Parameter uni...
متن کاملMesh Refinement For Stabilized Convection Diffusion Equations
We derive a residual a posteriori error estimates for the subscales stabilization of convection diffusion equation. The estimator yields upper bound on the error which is global and lower bound that is local.
متن کاملSUPG reduced order models for convection-dominated convection-diffusion-reaction equations
This paper presents a Streamline-Upwind Petrov–Galerkin (SUPG) reduced order model (ROM) based on Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD). This ROM is investigated theoretically and numerically for convection-dominated convectiondi usion-reaction equations. The SUPG finite element method was used on realistic meshes for computing the snapshots, leading to some noise in the POD data. Numerical ana...
متن کاملCoupling finite elements and particles for adaptivity: an application to consistently stabilized convection-diffusion
A mixed approximation coupling finite elements and mesh-less methods is presented. It allows selective refinement of the finite element solution without remeshing cost. The distribution of particles can be arbitrary. Continuity and consistency is preserved. The behaviour of the mixed interpolation in the resolution of the convection-diffusion equation is analyzed.
